AUTOMATED / DRIVEN

Designed for automated storage and retrieval of parts and items in manufacturing, distribution, retail, wholesale and institutions, AS / RS systems have been used in warehousing for decades. Based on a computerized control system, AS / RS solutions can be applied to both large and small loads as well as transport items to a variety of scheduled destinations.

Typically used for completing highly repetitive tasks, AS / RS options are available to enhance any order fulfillment needs in the warehouse. While AS / RS technologies have been around for years, the level of improvements in today’s AS / RS units are incredibly more efficient and adaptable.

Goods-to-person solutions cover an array of picking operations such as:

  • Shelf based picking – an entire tray of product is delivered to an operator
  • Bin based picking – an individual bin or tote is delivered to the operator
  • Robotic picking – robots are operating within an enclosed shelving system to deliver goods to an operator

Depending on how the AS / RS is configured, this type of technology is ideal for increasing:

  • space utilization
  • productivity
  • accuracy
  • safety
  • savings

VERTICAL LIFT MODULES

If vertical storage is on your radar, chances are your warehouse, manufacturing or distribution facility has forced you to reevaluate your space and handling systems.

Vertical storage systems are one of the easiest methods for reclaiming unused square footage and elevate the handling processes of your product. While every company situation and investment budget is unique, there are practical vertical storage systems that are affordable at varying price levels. The experts at Hy-Tek are here to help navigate you through the benefits of vertical storage systems.

INCREASE EXISTING SPACE

Creating vertical storage in a small footprint is generally the first and budget friendly move over finding and investing in a larger space. Static shelving is the solution option in this instance as it is lower cost, easy to source, ergonomic, and safe.

QUICKER ACCESS TO INVENTORY

When evaluating the potential for vertical storage systems in your facility, beyond static shelving, consider the benefits of entry-level automation. This is especially true in applications when the levels of small piece inventory are at least the 300 to 400 range and the emphasis is on quick access to all pieces.

SECURITY OF ASSETS

When securing high value inventory is at stake, vertical storage systems become an ever more appealing investment. By limiting employee access (badges / I.D’s) to certain high value items, this type of system allows for an overall improvement in accuracy and accountability.

INSURE ACCURACY, SAFETY, AND EFFICIENCY

In specialty environments where heavy or particularly awkward picking are the priority, vertical storage systems are not only a clever but essential solution. This is equally valid in other environments where extremely clean or hazardous picking is a significant concern.

The bottom line is that unless your company has really low inventory or unlimited space, vertical storage systems are a worthwhile investment for almost every environment. More importantly, it can combine multiple storage and handling improvements in one seamless solution.

QUICK FACTS ON VERTICAL STORAGE SYSTEMS

  • In manufacturing, return on investment (ROI) averages 5 years, but 1 to 1 ½ years ROI in distribution.
  • In space and reduction of overhead (i.e. 15 people to 3 people), ROI averages 2 to 2 ½ years.
  • Vertical storage has been around for 20 years, but new advantages in the software capabilities (pick to light, laser pointers, etc.) is a real reason to take another look.

AUTOMATED STORAGE & RETRIEVAL SYSTEMS

Designed for automated storage and retrieval of parts and items in manufacturing, distribution, retail, wholesale and institutions, AS / RS systems have been used in warehousing for decades. HIGH SPEED SHUTTLES

High Speed Shuttles

When it comes to maximizing space with quick access to inventory, high speed shuttles are a viable strategic option in the ever changing warehouse environment. Created to be flexible, scalable, expandable, efficient, ergonomic, economical, high speed shuttles deliver product efficiently in the warehouse in a smaller footprint than conventional storage systems.

Effective in extreme temperature settings, high speed shuttles can handle varying load dimensions and reasonably high weight limits while remaining modular for future options.

Benefits

  • Sequence buffering between operations with disparate timing.
  • Reordering input and output to improve upstream productivity while meeting downstream demands.
  • Goods to man order fulfillment.
  • Feeding unit sortation induction stations.
  • Mixed case pallet building.
  • Sorting, staging and accumulating as a conveyor replacement.

Dynamic Storage Systems

If the goal is to increase storage density while maintaining easy access to inventory, dynamic storage systems is a great solution to explore. By design, dynamic storage systems take advantage of available space by improving on how inventory is stored.

Carton flow

Gravity rack systems accommodate everything from the fastest-movers to slow movers to odd-shaped cases, cartons, bins, or merchandise. Store the same number of boxes or totes in half the space required by static shelving or racks and access it first-in, first-out for easy product rotation.

Pallet flow

Pallet flow maximizes the storage footprint in first-in, first-out storage applications. Used in situations where storage density and inventory rotation are high priorities. Systems are highly flexible and can convey virtually any skid or pallet type.

Pallet Push back

Push back pallet rack fills the storage cube with product while reducing the number of aisles. Stores pallets 2 to 5 deep while providing easy access. Offers higher selectivity than drive-in systems and better storage density than selective rack systems.

INDUSTRIAL SHELVING

VLM / CAROUSEL

Vertical Lift Modules / Carousels are automated storage and retrieval solutions designed to optimize space and improve warehouse management. Not only can they help you recover floor space but they also can increase picking accuracy and throughput, add product security, as well as improve your workforce’s ergonomic functions, saving both time and resources in your picking operations.

SHUTTLE

The Pallet Shuttle is a high-density storage system where a shuttle, powered by an electric motor, runs along rails inside a storage channel. By replacing forklifts, this radio shuttle solution considerably reduces operating times and enables SKUs to be grouped by channels rather than by entire lanes. Not having forklift traffic inside the lanes increases storage capacity in terms of depth and decreases the risk of accidents.

AS / RS

An automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS or AS / RS) consists of a variety of computer-controlled systems for automatically placing and retrieving loads from defined storage locations. Automated storage and retrieval systems (AS / RS) are typically used in applications where storage density it critical due to space constraints, accuracy is critical, or a very high volume of loads are being moved into and out of storage.

INDUSTRIAL RACK

ROLL FORMED

Constructed of C-section open tubular steel or closed tubular steel with cross bracing on the uprights, this pallet rack is an excellent choice when adding to existing tear-drop style connector pallet rack, or for starting fresh with all new rack.

STRUCTURAL

Constructed of structural channel steel, these racks withstand the toughest applications. Use structural instead of tubular in areas most likely to suffer from collisions, with very heavy loads, or extremely high traffic. Also excellent for freezers and other harsh environments.

CANTILEVER

Sturdy, stable, and versatile. From Light Duty to Extra Heavy Duty, it’s ideal for storing light bar stock, tubing, lumber, or other light-weight materials that are hand picked or easily damaged and must be kept off the floor. Single-Sided or Double-Sided, with adjustable Straight or inclined arms.

DRIVE-IN

Drive-In Racks allow a lift truck to enter the rack from one side to pick up or pull out pallets. Pallets can slide backwards on a continuous rail for high density storage. Forklifts drive into the rack to access pallets two or more deep. It is ideal rack for cooler or freezer applications.

DRIVE-THRU

Drive-Through Racks allow a lift truck to enter the rack from either side to access pallets. Loads are supported by rails attached to upright frames. It’s open at both ends, allowing first-in, first-out storage along with excellent storage density.

DECKING OPTIONS

Tailored specifically for your product needs, we offer various options including wire decks, perforated decks and pallet safety bars. Many accessories such as as well as clip-on dividers, hanging dividers, package stops, etc.
